Reviews for the Dyason series

Here are some of the book reviews for 'Minds of the Empire, 'Dominator' & 'Third Player'

Self Publishing Pays! Minds of the Empire is number one in the Forbidden Planet, top ten book chart!' —SFX Magazine.

'This is science fiction adventure before the days of cyberpunk, tortured and torturous psychology and raging moralising. What more could you want?' -The Big Issue.

'Brilliant! I usually read REALLY slow but nothing (bar work, sleep and food) could make be put the book down —L Davidson. Cyberspace.

'Congratulations on another winner!'—P Vallance. Cyberspace

'A great read ! don't have too much of an expectation of great literature just a great story some plot devices make you cringe but hey, as it says a ripping yarn!' - Amazon

'A friend of mine wants me to lend him my copy of Dominator, but I really don't think he could handle that good a book!!' —S Smith. Cyberspace.

'For a book to hold on to the fundamental issues that made the first two books of this series so readable, and yet to introduce new elements to the story without losing any sort of coherence is quite remarkable.Continuing the story of Moss, Myrddin et al, Third Player opens by introducing us to a third humanoid colony, struggling for survival against an alien race hell-bent on genocide and the extermination of their race. The opening chapter opens us up to the idea that there is a Galactic Superpower, conquering and pillaging the worlds it discovers - murdering all inhabitants of the indiginous civilisations on a scale likened to Universal Armageddon.By introducing this element, and threatening the established characters with impending doom, Palmer has created a stunning climax - still playing on the racial and self-discovery issues that were an integral and impressive ingredient to Minds Of The Empire and Dominator. Third Player uses all of Palmers nightmares and fantasies as it takes the reader from one exciting set-piece, to the next unholy scenario, without pausing to draw much breath. As a stand alone novel, Third Player would be useless. Even with the inclusion (as with Dominator) of a recap section - explaining the characters and back story, Third Player would not be a novel I could read or reccommend on it's own. However, placed with Minds and Dominator, it epitomises epic science fiction storytelling to such an extent, that you put the book down and wonder just how it hasn't been picked up by Hollywood. When you get your breath back, go and look for Star Web : Book Four of the Dyason'. - Amazon

'Set in what might as well be a post apocalyptic wasteland caused by an alien invasion, this novel is a SF/UF interpretation of the Sword in the Stone. and a very good novel it is too! You'll enjoy the ride as you follow the journeys of several characters as their lives move forward and intersect with one another. You'll root for the heroes and jeer at the bad guys. You will enjoy this for the fun ride that it is!If the author reads this, I would very much like to buy ebooks of this and the impossible to obtain 4th installment - I really WANT to give you my money!' - Goodreads.com

'This book is a classic Good vs Evil story told at a pace that makes putting the book down extremly hard. The good guys are the Earthers, who have to fight the Alien invaders (the bad guys, if you needed my help to figure that out!). From there the plot thickens nicely into an absorbing story. The normal padding and science garbling that some books suffer from has been eliminated, what is left is a story that developes the characters well, and makes each one a whole story onto themselves. The plot in involved but easy to follow and the references to the past and the King Arthur legends is handleded extremly well, and adds considerable readability to this and the two following books. There are twists and turns, and some ground work is laid for the next two books, which are equally as good as this one. It was designed from the outset to be a three book series, but each book can be read independantly of the others. If you are after a good SCI FI yarn, without all the normal science bable and the emphesis on a fast paced good story with a few decent battles thrown in, then this book is for you. It will not strain the brain to read this book, which for my part, makes it all the more enjoyable. But it might disappoint some who think that reading a good book must result in a headache from over use of brain. Happy reading!' - Amazon.
